Watch 360° Videos In The Latest Technical Preview Version Of VLC.

We all know about VLC media player. Almost everyone has downloaded it in their computers. VLC is the most used Open Source Media Player in the world. VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

VLC has released its Technical Preview version in which you can Enjoy 360° Videos and Images.
This version will be launched in 2017. This version is called VLC 360. 

VLC 360 Features:
Playback of 360 Videos following the Spatial Video spec.
Playback of 360 Photos and Panoramas following the Spherical spec.
Display modes with Zoom, Little planet and Reverse little planet.
Control it with your Mouse and Keyboard.
Open Source and Cross-platform, accelerated with OpenGL and Direct3D11.

VLC 360 is managed with the help of your mouse and keyboard for watching a video or Images. This version is supported by Windows 7 and above and MacOS 10.10  and above OS.

360° videos are played with Spatial Video specifications. This version is completed in association with Giroptic. A 360-degree photos and Video extensive.
Position scenery shots with the spherical specification are also supported by VLC 360.


In present, this version is not supported by android, iOS and Xbox but VLC 360 will be available for these devices soon.

Mobile versions will use the phone sensors to navigate inside the videos.
VLC will probably support VR headsets like Vive, Daydream, Oculus or OSVR, in 2017.
VLC will also get 3D audio playback, including head tracking headphones.

As this is Technical Preview Version, There are some unverified bugs and broken features in the VLC-VR version which videoLAN team is trying to fix.
